Eric Smith is a partner based in the Washington, D.C. office of Kaplan Kirsch & Rockwell. Eric has been in the aviation industry for over 25 years. His practice is devoted to representation of airports of all sizes all across the United States. He has extensive experience in airspace regulation, on-airfield operations and federal regulatory issues facing airports. He regularly interfaces with a wide variety of regulatory personnel, both in the informal and litigation contexts. Mr. Smith’s UAS practice focuses upon the operational and safety issues facing airport owner and operators and assists airports in devising both contractual and regulatory solutions to the ever-evolving UAS environment. Mr. Smith is on both the ACI and AAAE UAS task forces and is a regular speaker on airport-based UAS matters. In addition to his legal experience in the aviation arena, Mr. Smith is also an active, instrument-rated, private pilot.
